Congrats to Katherine McManus, Jake O’Neal and Chris Fichman for winning CU Idol!  Thank you so much to all the contestants, the sponsors, the host and judges, the audience and the Herd!

A lot of students auditioned, and ten made it to the final show.  Only one will win the $1000 prize.  Join The Herd in the Glenn Miller Ballroom on Friday, March 9th at 7 p.m. for CU Idol!  Bring your friends for a night of nail biting competition, show stopping performances and entertaining acts.  First prize is $1000, second is $500 and third is $250. The voting is a mix between the audience and the judges.  This year we’re using texting brought to you by Verizon.

The Herd is making CU Idol BIGGER and BETTER this year! One of our judges will be Anthony Hull, a CU-Boulder graduate and successful new media mogul.  Hull has produced numerous documentaries and has his on channel on vimeo called Ant’s World.  Check out more about Anthony at anthull.com.  Not familiar with Anthony Hull?  Check out the HTC Rezound commercial and maybe you’ll recognize him!

Our other judges include Eric Bieniemy, CU’s Offensive Coordinator/Running backs, and Satya Chavez, last year’s CU Idol winner.  The host of CU Idol this year will be a contestant from last year, David DiGioia.

Lastly, we’re providing you with an amazing intermission act.  A senior at CU, Stephen Swindell practices the art of spinning Poi.  Don’t know what Poi is?  Check out this informative link.  Since Stephen will be performing indoors, he will be using glow-sticks instead of fire.

Our ten contestants for this year are:

1.            Katherine McManus
2.            Andrew Bridger Sperry
3.            Suffyanah Gheithy
4.            Jake O’Neal
5.            Heidi Guenther
6.            Ashley Prince
7.            Shane Church
8.            Garrett Smith
9.            Mara Kennan
10.          Peter Zagone

Special thanks to CU Late Night, CU Bookstore and the Alumni Association for their funding and support!
